Search and Rescue Introduction

The aim of this course is to provide the basic knowledge for new entrants to join a SAR organisation.
The content of the course is focused on SAR operations in the Central Mediterranean.
The course is delivered as a blended learning course consisting of asynchronous e-learning modules 2 days of practical hands-on training.

SAR assets (ships and aircraft)

Technical and operational aspects of rescue boats used in SAR.

Operation of outboard engines.

Basic boat handling and standard manoeuvres used in the SAR context.

Types of refugee boats and associated risks.

Approach procedures.

Emergency communication.

Risk assessment.

Rescue procedures and equipment.

Physical fitness for service in the SAR fleet.

Minimum age 18 years

15 hours of e-learning + 16 hours practical hands-on training in our facility in Sassnitz.
