Mooring Operations Training
Mooring operations are amongst the most dangerous work tasks on board a ship. Personnel envolved in mooring
operations must be well trained and familiar with the safety protocol.
Our Mooring Operations Course provides all the knowledge and skills you need to work as part of a mooring
team on a seagoing ship. The curriculum is based on the column "Contribute to berthing, anchoring and other
mooring operations" of STCW Table A-II/5 (AB-Deck).
The course includes:

the function of mooring and tug lines and how each line functions as part of an overall system

the capacities, safe working loads, and breaking strengths of mooring equipment, including mooring
wires, synthetic and fibre lines, winches, anchor windlasses, capstans, bitts, chocks and bollards

the procedures and order of events for making fast and letting go mooring and tug lines and wires,
including towing lines
-
occupational health and safety at the mooring station

effective communication procedures
The course is provided is provided in cooperation with our training vessel MV Stubnitz in the port of
Hamburg.

This course aims at new entrants as well as Ratings Forming Part of a Navigational Watch
without formal training on mooring operations.

No previous seagoing service required
3 hrs theory plus 16 hrs practical exercises on board (2 days)
